With more than 15 years of audit practice serving over 500 clients, ASTC performs independent audits of financial statements for foreign-invested and locally owned companies, donors and NGOs in Vietnam. Beyond the audit opinion, we add value through recommendations that strengthen internal control and accounting information systems.

Our services
Statutory audit
The annual independent audit of financial statements required under Vietnamese law. Entities subject to mandatory audit include state-owned enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises and public-interest entities.
The scope of entities subject to mandatory audit is set out in the Law on Independent Audit and its guiding documents. For a specific entity, the source legislation in force at the time should be verified.
Special-purpose audit and Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP)
Designed around the entity’s own objective or the needs of the users of the financial information: audits for group consolidation purposes, project completion audits, donor-required audits, and agreed-upon procedures performed under VSRS 4400.
Our audit approach
| Principle | What it means |
|---|---|
| Partner-led | The audit partner leads from the front throughout the audit cycle and takes full responsibility for the quality of our work |
| Risk-focused | We concentrate on the areas of greater risk and do not spend time on immaterial areas; issues are identified and addressed early, so deadlines are met without surprises |
| Management effectiveness | Advisory input during the audit is directed at reducing the time and cost of maintaining your accounting and tax systems while still achieving the expected outputs |
Our four-stage audit process
Stage 1 — Planning and risk assessment
- Pre-audit discussion with management
- Establish the engagement team database and information package
- Mobilise, induct and brief the audit team
- Planning visit
- Preparation of the Audit Strategy Memorandum
- Prepare audit programmes for recording and controlling audit procedures
- Prepare and issue the list of audit requirements to the company
Stage 2 — Agreeing the audit strategy
- Meet and share the audit plan with management
- Present the agreed plan to the accounting and finance team and to project management, so the audit process is understood on all sides
Stage 3 — Carrying out audit fieldwork
Planning visit: understand the company’s accounting system, internal control and management structure; understand the control environment, including management’s attitude towards compliance with established policies and procedures.
Final audit visit: perform the designed audit procedures.
Stage 4 — Completion and reporting
- Prepare Key Issue Minutes for the exit meeting
- Prepare draft deliverables, including the Auditors’ Report and the management letter
- Present the deliverables to company management
- Submit the final reports
